The academy graduate has joined Osasuna
Moi Gómez has said goodbye to Villarreal after 11 years aboard the Submarine. The Yellows and Osasuna have reached an initial agreement for the transfer of the attacker, who came through the Villarreal youth set-up.
He joined the Yellows Academy aged 11, before leaving the club to return once more, after spells with Getafe, Real Sporting and SD Huesca. While at the academy, he was an international with Spain’s youth teams.
Last season, Moi Gómez received the ceramic submarine in the traditional tribute that the club gives to footballers who have reached the ten-year mark with the Yellows.
From a boy to a man
Moi made his top-flight debut for Villarreal aged just 17. With the Submarine’s first team, he played 222 games, scoring 19 goals – three of them this season – and providing 24 assists throughout his career as a Yellow.
The academy graduate was also one of the heroes of the Europa League win in Gdansk, scoring his penalty in the shootout.
Villarreal wish him the best of luck in the next stage of his career. Vila-real will always be your home, Moi.
