The player with the most appearances in Villarreal CF history says goodbye to football after a successful career
Manu Trigueros has announced his retirement from professional football. The Talavera-born midfielder brings an end to a successful career in which he represented both Villarreal CF and Granada CF.
During his long and outstanding spell as a Yellow, in which he spent 12 consecutive seasons with the first team, Manu Trigueros became the player with the most appearances in the club’s history, with 477 official matches. An exceptional footballer who led the team back to LaLiga in 2013, won the Europa League in 2021 and reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2022.
After two seasons at Granada CF, where he made more than 70 appearances, the midfielder will hang up his boots at the age of 34.
