The Moroccan winger has been included in the list of 100 contenders for the award for best young player on the planet
Italian newspaper Tuttosport has published the list of the 100 footballers who aspire to win the Golden Boy Award, given to the best young footballer under the age of 21. Among the 100 talented players is Villarreal CF’s Ilias Akhomach, along with other big names on the current football scene such as Lamine Yamal, Alejandro Garnacho and Zaire-Emery, among others.
Thus, the Submarine, as in the two previous editions with Yeremy Pino, will have a new representative in this prestigious award that will know its winner of the current edition in the month of November.
Ilias Akhomach, talent and sacrifice
Ilias Akhomach joined the Yellows on 3rd July 2023 after finishing his contract with FC Barcelona. Akhomach, who spent the pre-season with Villarreal’s first team, played the first few fixtures of the season with the B team, but his good performance meant that he soon began to enjoy minutes in the first team.
The ability, character and, above all, talent of the skilful Moroccan international helped him to get more and more minutes in a team in which he has so far participated in 32 matches, starting 19 of them, and contributing with three goals and five assists.
