The new Yellow Submarine goalkeeper has stated that he will bring hard work and experience to Iñigo Pérez’s side

Hungarian goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi was officially unveiled as a new Villarreal CF player on Tuesday at an event held at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground. Accompanied by the club’s CEO, Fernando Roig Negueroles, the shot-stopper gave his first remarks as a Yellow Submarine player.

“I am very happy to be here. I have already been able to train with the team today and I am full of excitement and motivation. I came here because I was looking for a new challenge after many years in Germany. I wanted to maintain that high competitive level, but do it in a different league and experience a new culture. Then the opportunity arose to play here, at one of the best clubs in Spain. I will give everything to help the team and achieve success together,” he said in his first appearance.

Excited about his arrival in Vila-real, Gulácsi stated that he will bring experience and his qualities to the squad: “I’ve only been here for a day, but I’ve already had the chance to speak a little with the head coach and more extensively with the goalkeeping coach, who I already worked with at Liverpool. I have come here to work, to contribute my experience and qualities, and to accept whatever role is required of me. Without doubt, it is a challenge for me to play for such a big club and move to a new country after many years at Leipzig. I am here to contribute to the goalkeeping group and help us all reach the highest possible level.”

The Hungarian goalkeeper also admitted that the club’s ambition and European pedigree were major factors in his decision: “We all know that Villarreal are a very successful club, that they always qualify for the Europa League. They have won the trophy and have spent the last two years playing in the Champions League. That ambition is exactly what I am looking for.”

Roig Negueroles: “He is a top-class goalkeeper with an impeccable career”

Villarreal CF CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles welcomed Gulácsi during the presentation ceremony, highlighting his outstanding career and thanking him for joining the club: “He is a very well-known player with an impeccable career. He started at Liverpool and has spent eleven years performing at a very high level with RB Leipzig. He was a key player there and won major trophies. He has made a significant effort to come here and we are grateful for that. We are convinced that he will bring a great deal of experience because he is an excellent goalkeeper.”
