Villarreal B picked up a deserved win against one of the strongest teams in the league
Deportivo Alavés, and picked up three extremely important points in the fight to achieve their objectives thanks to a goal scored by Alberto del Moral in the first half.
In the first half, neither team was able to threaten the opposition goal with any serious danger. Both Villarreal B and Deportivo Alavés fought for every ball with the aim of gaining control of the match.
However, it was Villarreal B who were responsible for shaking up the game soon after. In the 30th minute of the match, Alberto Del Moral was first to a dead ball at the edge of the box and unleashed a shot that was impossible for goalkeeper Sivera to save.
Miguel Álvarez’s men were on top of their game after the goal and continued to create some very dangerous moves on the Alavés goal. Sergio Lozano almost made the difference in the scoreboard when in the 43rd minute he attempted a long-range shot that went just wide of Sivera’s post.
After the restart, the tone of the game was similar. Villarreal B continued to create more chances than their opponents and Álex Millán came close to scoring the second yellow goal on two occasions when Sivera had to bring out his best reflexes to keep out the striker, who finished off two great counter-attacks by the home team.
In the final stages of the game, Deportivo Alavés put the Yellows in serious trouble, but they came up against a fierce defence that did not falter and secured an important victory in the fight for relegation.
