The Valencian defender extends his contract with Villarreal and will be part of the first team for the 2026/27 season
Villarreal CF have reached an agreement to renew Carlos Romero, who will remain at the club until June 2031. With this extension, the Valencian defender prolongs his stay at the Yellow Submarine by two additional seasons, as his previous deal was set to expire in 2029.
After two successful and productive loan spells at RCD Espanyol, the young Valencian defender will be part of Villarreal CF’s first-team squad for the upcoming 2026/27 season. A campaign full of both demands and excitement, in which the Submarine will once again compete in LALIGA, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.
A top defender developed at the Yellow Academy
Carlos Romero Serrano (Torrent, October 29, 2001) is a highly complete left-back, with great stamina and a strong balance between attacking and defensive play, developed within Villarreal CF’s youth academy.
After two consecutive seasons wearing the RCD Espanyol shirt, the young defender has established himself as one of the best defenders in LALIGA, particularly following his outstanding performances during the most recent campaign, where he became one of the standout players in the competition.
The Valencian defender made the step up to professional football with Villarreal B, playing two seasons in the Segunda División. During his development, Romero also featured for the club’s Juvenil A side and Villarreal C, after joining the Yellow Academy in 2019 from Torre Levante’s youth team.
