Villarreal have registered both academy products with new shirt numbers
Álex Baena and Nicolas Jackson are now officially part of Villarreal CF’s first team. The players, who have come through the Yellows Academy have taken the definitive step up to the first team, and this season they will only be part of Unai Emery’s squad. The Senegalese striker will wear the No.15 shirt, while the Spanish midfielder will take the No.16. Arnaut Danjuma, to allow Jackson to wear the No.15, has switched to No.9.
A great present and a promising future
Both Álex Baena and Nico Jackson have had a great start to the season, meaning Unai Emery sees them as an important part of his project. The Spanish midfielder scored two goals in 27 minutes against Real Valladolid in the 0-3 win, and played both of the UEFA Europa Conference League Play-Off Round matches against Hajduk Split. The Senegalese forward started the first two league wins of the season, also scoring the Yellows’ first league goal of the season at the Estadio José Zorrilla.
