The Yellow Submarine midfielder will join the Olympic squad after the European Championships
Villarreal CF’s Álex Baena is part of the 22-player pre-list for the Spain national team for the Olympic Games in Paris, which will be held between 26th July and 11th August.
The midfielder, who is currently playing in the European Championship, will join the Olympic squad at the end of the tournament.
Head coach Santi Denia will have to make four cuts ahead of the Olympic warm-up friendly against the United States on Thursday 18th July in Bordeaux, France.
Baena’s presence in the definitive list for the Olympic Games would be the finishing touch to his fantastic season 2023/24: top assistant in LALIGA EA SPORTS with 14 assists and called up by the Spanish senior national team for the European Championships.
Spain’s matches in the group stage are the following:
- Uzbekistan vs Spain: Wednesday 24th March, 3pm CEST, Parque des Princes (Paris)
- Dominican Republic vs Spain: Saturday 27th March, 3pm CEST, Stade de Bordeaux (Bordeaux)
- Spain vs Egypt: Thursday 30th July, 3pm CEST, Stade de Bordeaux (Bordeaux)
