The Villarreal B head coach has expressed his desire to earn a second consecutive win against a dangerous opponent (Sunday, 8:30pm CET)
Villarreal B head coach David Albelda spoke to the media on Friday to preview the upcoming match against Atlético Sanluqueño, corresponding to Matchday 11 of the Primera Federación, which will be played this Sunday at 8:30pm CET at the Mini Estadi at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
In his press conference, the Valencian coach reflected on the reserve team’s latest win and analysed the qualities of a dangerous rival, both for their ability and their need to get results. “We come off the back of a win at a difficult ground, and now we see things differently. It helps us climb up the table. Now we want to build on that with another victory. We’re playing at home and we want to win,” Albelda said.
As for the next challenge, Villarreal B face Atlético Sanluqueño, who have picked up just one point from their last five games: “That makes them even more dangerous. This is a very tough league. We can’t relax or think it’ll be easy just because of their recent form. If you look at their games, they always create chances. When we went to Cartagena last week, they were the favourites, and we managed to win. In this division, you can’t afford to be overconfident.”
For Albelda, Atlético Sanluqueño are an experienced and talented side despite their current run of results: “They have players of real quality. Offensively, they’re quick and good in one-on-one situations. Defensively, they’re an experienced team who know the league well. That makes them a tough opponent regardless of recent results. I can assure you they’re not a team to take lightly, because even in the games they’ve lost, they’ve always been in it.”
