The Yellows hold out for half the game with ten men and make Forés’ goal count to win the game
Impressive. Villarreal B used their grit, spirit and good play to claim a great away win against Tenerife (0-1), where the Yellows, who played half the match with a man down after Abraham was sent off, made Forés’ goal in the 23rd minute count for nothing less than three points.
Tenerife tried to impose their dominance from the start, but the Yellows produced a great first half. Well positioned and quick on the ball, they soon began to make their presence felt on the home side’s goal. So much so that, in the 23rd minute, Miguel Álvarez’s men scored. After a great cross from Tasende, Jorge Pascual headed into the six-yard box and Forés, always ready, made it 0-1 for the Mini Submarine with a shot at the opposite post.
In the 44th minute, things looked difficult for the visitors when a foul from Abraham on the edge of the box earned him a straight red card, leaving Villarreal B with ten men.
Tenerife came out all guns blazing after the break, forcing Villarreal B to work hard at every opportunity to get into the box. The Mini Submairne showed an impressive capacity for sacrifice in numerical inferiority throughout the second half, in which they repelled the Tenerife side’s harassment without contemplation.
