The Villarreal Manager praises his team’s solid performance against Toledo
Villarreal Manager, Fran Escribá, was very satisfied after the match. He praised his side’s solid performance against Toledo, which led to a comfortable 0-3 win in the first leg of the Round of 32 of the Copa del Rey. “We were really focused throughout the match. We were fortunate to score the first and from that moment on it was a lot more relaxed. It’s not easy to play these type of matches. We knew that it was better for us that they had possession so we could catch them out on the counterattack”, he commented.
With regard to the next match against Leganés (Saturday, 6:30pm CET), Escribá emphasized that it will be another demanding encounter in Butarque: “We want to win against Leganés to stay high up in the table. This team is always going to compete, although we know how hard this game is. They’re a tough side that will create chances. After this match we’ll think about Steaua”.
Lastly, Escribá was full of praise for former Academy player Rodrigo, who returned to the starting lineup and put in a great performance in the middle of the park: “In Rodrigo we have a diamond we must look after. He has to wait for his opportunity and keep taking advantage of his chances. He will be a great player in the future”.
