Bruno and Cazorla say goodbye to Villarreal CF in style in an emotional day

Bruno Soriano and Santi Cazorla said goodbye to the club in style against SD Eibar at the Estadio de la Cerámica. Both were in the staritng XI, and were key in the Yellows’ win over the Basque side, and received a great reception after the final whistle.

Their team-mates threw them in the air and gave them a guard of honour, which Eibar joined, when they left the pitch. The club also prepared commemorative shirts for both of them. There was also a lot of hugs by those privileged enough to be able to see the tribute in person. It was logical. They have both left an unforgettable mark on the club’s history-

Bruno and Cazorla were formed in the Yellows Academy and both represented Spain while with Villarreal. In fact, Cazorla was Euro 2008 Champion with La Roja.

Santi Cazorla says goodbye to Villarreal CF after the end of his contract with the Submarine. He will continue his career at a new club. A legendary magician with the ball at his feet, he also had to overcome a terrible time with injuries, returning to the pitch two seasons later to only increase his standing in the game.

He made his first team debut on 30th November 2003 against RC Deportivo de la Coruña and played for Villarreal CF in two different stages. Throughout his nine seasons with Villarreal CF, he has played 334 games, scoring 57 goals and providing 57 assists.

Cazorla is the player to have played in the fourth most games for Villarreal CF (334). Only Bruno Soriano (425), Mario Gaspar (377) and Marcos Senna (363) are ahead of him.

The No.8 is the third top scorer for Villarreal CF in the elite of Spanish football with 57 goals, only two away from Diego Forlán’s 59. The top scorer in Villarreal CF history is Giuseppe Rossi (82).

The 2019/20 season will be the season where he has scored the most goals in his career (16). With Villarreal CF, he scored 11 in LaLiga and four in the Copa del Rey. He also scored one goal with Spain against Malta.
