Villarreal CF fans have chosen the midfielder as last month’s best player
Denis Suárez has been named April’s Five-star player. The Yellows fans have chosen the midfielder as last month’s best player via Twitter. Mahou, sponsor of the Submarine, promotes this award.
The Galician has had an excellent season. With still one match to play before the end of the season, the Yellow number 18 has scored 5 goals (4 in LaLiga and 1 in the UEFA Europa League) and has been a key figure in Marcelino’s side. Denis Suárez was very grateful to receive the award from Javier Querol of Mahou San Miguel: “When your own fans recognize your good work it’s really comforting. We’ve all made it a great season by finishing fourth and getting to the Semi-finals of the Europa League. It’s a shame that we didn’t get to the Final, but we all have to be really proud of ourselves. I’ve picked up this award a few times this season already, but it is always really special”.
The Pontevedra native started his career in the youth ranks of Celta de Vigo but didn’t get to make his debut with the First Team. In 2011, at the age of 16, he went to Manchester City where he stayed for two years. In 2013 he signed for the FC Barcelona B team. The following season he was loaned to Sevilla where he didn’t fit in as well as he had hoped. Last summer he cut ties with both Sevilla and FC Barcelona to join Villarreal Club de Fútbol.
The way to choose the Five-star player is simple. Every month, fans vote via Twitter for the team’s best player. To do it correctly, users have to tweet the name of their chosen player with the hash tag #Jugador5EstrellasCVF during the set period of time. Once this time limit is up, votes are counted to determine the winner.
Through this initiative Mahou Cinco Estrellas can announce the stand out player for each month. The prize is given by the fans on Twitter, on the profile @futbolmahou with the collaboration of the Villarreal CF official Twitter account (@villarrealcf).
The Five-star player award will be given out every month during the season. Don’t forget to vote for your favourite player for May. Make sure to pay attention to the @futbolmahou profile and @villarrealcf pages, where the winners and the opening dates for voting will be published.
