The Villarreal full-back has been called up by Romania U23s for the event in Japan

Andrei Ratiu has been called up by the Romania U23 national teams for the 2020 Olympic Games that will be held in Tokyo, Japan. The Villarreal B team full-back, who has been with his national team recently training and playing friendly matches, has been officially named in the Romania squad for the Olympics. 

The Romanian defender will attend the National Centre of Football in Mogosoaia, Romania, and will undergo medical tests on 1st and 2nd July. Subsequently, on 13th July, he will play in a friendly match which is still to be confirmed, before heading to Tokyo on 15th July. 

Once there, the Romanian side will play:

  • Honduras (23rd July, Ibaraki Kashima Stadium)
  • Republic of Korea (25th July, Ibaraki Kashima Stadium)
  • New Zealand (28th July, Sapporo Dome)

If Romania get through the group stages, Andrei will play in the quarter-finals on 31st July.
