“We’re on a good run”

Quique Setién praised the Submarine’s victory and also acknowledged Cádiz’s great performance

Villarreal head coach Quique Setién assessed the victory over Cádiz CF (2-0). The Santander-born coach was satisfied with the win: “We are satisfied with the three points, although we didn’t play our best game. We won and even had chances to widen the gap on the scoreboard, but I have to recognise that Cádiz put in a great performance and deserved to score.”

Despite the joy of the win, the coach was self-critical and acknowledged that the team did not give the same level of performance as on previous days: “There have been games in which we have deserved much more than what we have achieved and today it was the other way around. It’s not that we didn’t play a good game, it’s just that I like to have more control and we could have done better. In any case, I give credit for the win. We won against an opponent who are playing for their lives.”

Finally, Setién had words of praise for Nico Jackson for his great game and for Pepe Reina, who has played 1,000 games as a professional footballer: “Nico is a constant threat and gives us a lot in the game, he’s in an exceptional moment, while Reina was brilliant.”
