Javi Calleja expects to face a brave Ponferradina that will “go for goal” at the Estadio de la Cerámica
In today’s press conference, Villarreal CF Manager, Javi Calleja, said the Yellows will go out there with “all they’ve got” to turn the tables around in the cup tie against SD Ponferradina (Thursday, 7:30pm CET): “We’re not going to make the mistake of being over confident. They’ve already shown that they can beat us in the first leg. So, we’re not going to take any risks. We’ll give everything from the first minute, try to score a qucik goal and go into the break with the advantage”.
The Yellows boss expects to come up against a “brave” SD Ponferradina side that go in search of scoring a goal at the Estadio de la Cerámica: “They’re going to come here and pressure us to try and score. They’ll try to play intensely and put us under pressure. They won’t settle for just defending and let the time pass. They’ll no doubt go in search of scoring a goal to make the tie even more of an uphill battle for us”.
Lastly, the Manager called for the support of the fans to guarantee Villarreal get through to the next round of the cup competition: “I hope a lot of people come out and together we can make the comeback. Our aim is to get through to the next round and make the fans that come out and support us at the Estadio de la Cerámica very happy”.
