The Yellows will play in this prestigious North American 7-a-side tournament with former legends, captained by Marcos Senna
Villarreal CF will take part in TST 2024, a prestigious 7-a-side football tournament to be held from 5th to 10th June in the North American city of Cary (North Carolina), with a prize of one million dollars for the winning team.
The Submarine will make its debut in this summer tournament, in which 48 teams will compete, with a team made up of legendary former players of the club and other young talents, captained by the emblematic Marcos Senna, who played a total of 363 games for Villarreal CF and was capped by the Spanish national team on 28 occasions.
Marcos Senna, current Yellows’ ambassador and future captain of the team that will play at TST showed his enthusiasm for the event: ““I can’t wait to be at TST and be back playing in the United States after finishing my professional career in soccer there. It means something special to return representing Villarreal. We will give our all in the tournament and we will go for the million dollars.”
Villarreal commercial director Juan Antón also underlined the club’s connection with the United States. “Everyone at Villarreal can’t wait to be involved in The Soccer Tournament. Villarreal has a rich history with connections to the United States, with players such as Giuseppe Rossi and Jozy Altidore previously representing the Yellow Submarine in LALIGA. We currently have nine partner academies based across the US, including one in North Carolina. We hope our appearance in our TST debut will see us returning to Spain with the million-dollar prize.”
