

The club has put aside 30,000 Euros in grants for athletes from the university since 2018
Villarreal CF, through the ‘Cátedra Villarreal CF del Deporte’ programme at the Jaume I University (UJI) in Castellón, during 2018, promoted more than a dozen actions linked to sporting activity aimed at the university community and society in general. These activities have been carried out in three parts: growth and employment, investigation and communication and corporate reputation.
On Wednesday, a presentation was held at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva) looking back at the activities that took place throughout 2018. The ceremony was attended by José Manuel Llaneza, Villarreal CF vice-president; Tino Traver, Institutional Relations director; Federico Alcácer Villarreal CF general manager for organisation and management; Isabel García vice-rector of studies and teachings; and Catédra Villarreal CF del Deporte manager, Carlos Hernando.
In the first section, growth and employment, for the seventh consecutive year the ‘Catédra Endavant Villarreal’ has provided 30,000 Euros for 50 athletes enrolled at the UJI, among those are ten Spanish University Championship medallists. Activities have included the International Mountain Race Congress, forming of sports coaches through Villarreal methodology and collaboration in the first Brand, Territory and Sport Congress. Furthermore, Villarreal CF has hosted UJI students doing work experience, and the ‘Catédra’ has tutored Villarreal CF players who study at the university.
In the investigation part of the programme, the ‘Catédra’ has taken part in the physical activity programme for health from the point of view of improving the physical condition of the university community and those living in Castellón. Furthermore, it has also helped divulge the scientific results from investigative programmes that take place in races such as the Valencia Marathon or the Penyagolosa Trails mountain races.
Finallly, in regards to communication and corporate reputation, this year the ‘Catédra Endavant Villarreal CF’ organised a reception for elite UJI athletes where 59 university sportspeople were recognised, and where another 50 UJI students received a shared of the grant of 30,000 Euros.
