The first joint action will be the ‘Dialogues without borders’ session at the Estadio de la Cerámica
Villarreal CF and Rototom Sunsplash join forces as part of Endavant Cultura, the Corporate Social Responsibility project through which the Yellows support culture in the province of Castellón. The agreement is now in place for the next edition of the festival, which will take place from 16th to 21st August in Benicàssim.
The first joint action of this new collaboration between the Submarine and the reggae festival will be the ‘Dialogues without borders’ (Diálogos sin fronteras) session on 23rd April at 6.30pm at the Club 1923 of the Estadio de la Cerámica. The stadium will host the conferences of the journalist and Queen Sofia Sports Award winner Paloma del Río and the former Afghan wheelchair basketball player Latifa Sakhizadeh. The ‘Dialogues without Borders’ series, promoted by the Rototom Sunsplash festival and its Cultural Association Exodus, continues to explore scenarios that mimic the subject matter of each debate. ‘The values of sport save lives’ (‘Los valores del deporte salvan vidas’) is the title of the talk, moderated by the director of COPE Castelló Raúl Puchol, which will be given by the journalist Paloma del Río, the voice that has guided the transmission of gymnastics competitions for TVE and Queen Sofía Award at the National Sports Awards, and the ex-player of the Afghan wheelchair basketball team, Latifa Sakhizadeh.
Paloma del Río and the war correspondent Antonio Pampliega, also recognised at the National Sports Awards for his involvement in the defence of women and assistance to immigrants, “managed, in dramatic moments after the recovery of Taliban power in Afghanistan, which condemned society to ostracism, to help sportswomen like Latifa Sakhizadeh to leave the country”, they explain from Exodus. “My life changed completely, like the lives of all Afghans, especially women,” says Sakhizadeh.
It should be noted that the talks are not only supported by Villarreal CF, but also by Vila-real Town Council and the Villarreal CF Foundation.
