The B team lost 0-3 in a match where they tried everything
Villarreal B lost 3-0 to Mirandés in a match in which the Mini Submarine tried everything they could, but could not find a way to damage their opponents’ defence. The goals came from Ilyas Chaira (2) and Gabri.
The B team went into the game with some important absentees from their usual formation. Hugo Pérez and Pablo Iñiguez were injured, whilst Ontiveros was serving a suspension and Altimira was with the first team.
The first chances of the game fell to the Yellows. The best of them came from Requena, who finished off a loose ball at the far post and sent it into the clouds (m.15).
It was Mirandés who made no mistake. Ilyas Chaira headed home a cross from the left flank. It was time for a comeback. Villarreal B tried until half-time. They had a chance with another header, this time from Carlo from Tasende’s cross, but the ball went just wide.
Just before half-time there was a worrying injury for the visitors. Baeza had to leave the pitch in visible pain. Reina took his place on the pitch.
In the second half, Villarreal B continued to take the initiative, but Mirandés were hitting hard. In fact, the 0-2 was also the work of Ilyas Chaira with a well-placed shot to the surprise of the Yellows (m. 60).
The 0-3 was a beautifully crafted goal. Gabri Martínez beat several opponents to score in front of Iker Álvarez (m. 72).
The Mini Submarine looked to close the gap until the end, but the scoreboard would not budge. Villarreal B’s next game will be against Leganés at Butarque (Sunday, 6:30pm CET).
