Two goals from Samu Chukwueze are enough to get an important win against Atlético Baleares
Villarreal B continue hitting the sweet spot. They are a joy to watch every game. The Mini Submarine fought back against Atlético Baleares to get an extremely important victory against one of their closest rivals for promotion. A brace from Chukwueze meant that the Yellows Reserves meant Samuel Shashoua’s goal for Atlético Baleares meant nothing (2-1).
With this result, Villarreal B are now unbeaten in eight games and are breathing down the neck of Hércules, the leader of Group 3 of the Segunda División B.
Miguel Álvarez’s side had to fight back. Atlético Baleares got ahead on the scoreboard early thanks to Shashoua, who made it 0-1 after indecisiveness in the Yellows’ defence (min. 7).
The Baleraric side were pressing high and making it hard for Villarreal B to play the ball out of defence. Despite that, the Yellows were true to their style and by the end of the game, fulfilled their objective. The equalising goal came quickly. Dani Villa pulled off a piece of control that was out this world, escaping his marker, before playing it to Chukwueze, with the Nigerian scoring with a deft shot at the near post (1-1, min. 14).
Villlarreal B searched for the victory in the second half and found it. Álvarez brought on Mukwelle Akale for Emmanuel Lomotey in a clear attacking move. It was a key decision in the final result.
The goal to make it 2-1 also came from Chukwueze. The No.7 found himself on the scoreboard once more thanks to a fantastic pass from Fran Álvarez. The Nigerian finished with cold blood, giving the opposition goalkeeper no chance (min. 76).
