Villarreal is now a centenary club. The club turns 100 today and will be celebrating in style with the Centenary Party, a huge ceremony, which will take place this Friday at the Estadio de la Cerámica, starting at 8pm CET. In its remodelled home, Yellows fans will enjoy an artistic representation of the 100 years of the history of the club and the town.

100 years of passion for VIllarreal

Founded on 10th March 1923 by a group of football fans in Vila-real, of its driving forces was the pharmacist José Calduch Almela. Although they did not play official matches until the following decade, the then Club Deportivo Villarreal did begin to define what are still today clear signs of its identity. One of the first decisions, in fact, was to acquire some land in the El Madrigal area to build what is today one of the oldest pitches in the top flight, the Estadio de la Cerámica.

Since then, Villarreal CF have spent a total of 23 seasons in the top flight, even achieving a runners-up spot (2007/2008 season). In Europe, the Yellows have won the UEFA Europa League (2021) and reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in the 2005/06 and 2021/22 seasons.

The player with the most official games for Villarreal CF is Manu Trigueros, (446 games) surpassing other legends such as Bruno Soriano, Mario Gaspar and Marcos Senna. The top scorer in Villarreal’s history in the elite is Gerard Moreno, with 105 goals.
