Alberto Moreno spoke about the current situation of the squad and the match against Celta (Friday, 9pm CET)
Villarreal CF player Alberto Moreno spoke to the media this afternoon in the press room at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground. The Andalusian full-back, who featured in the victories against Valencia and Real Madrid, was happy with the team’s current form and assured that the squad is committed to the philosophy of their coach, Quique Setién.
These were the most important statements made by the Yellows defender:
Positive momentum from the match against Madrid
“Victories like the one the other day give you extra confidence and joy. In training you can still see the joy on the faces of all the players. We all wanted Villarreal to play the way they are playing now. It’s true that the change of coach was hard, but with hard work the reward always comes. Quique was very clear with his idea from the start and that’s what we saw on Saturday against Madrid.”
Quique Setién
“He insisted on his philosophy at all times. At the beginning there were some doubts because the change in philosophy from one coach to another was very big, but he kept insisting that with hard work it was going to work out. It’s a style of play that needs a lot of work, he has insisted a lot to make it happen and I’m very happy for him. We are all in the same boat.”
Maintaining consistency in the style of play
“We use the same approach no matter who the opponent is. With this style of play we have to run and press a lot, which is something we are getting better at and that’s why they create fewer chances against us. As the coach always says, we have a lot of things to improve, but it’s true that there has been a big improvement in the last few games and that’s why we’ll go to Vigo with confidence and with the idea to continue winning”.
Celta Vigo
“In LaLiga all matches are difficult. Celta are in the bottom half of the table, but they have very talented players and a stadium that is very complicated to visit. If we want to score, which won’t be easy, we have to keep working as we have done so far. We’ll be looking for the win because we all want to be at the top.”
