The Yellows put in a good performance in a match where they had chances to win

Villarreal B and Real Zaragoza played out a draw at the Estadio de la Cerámica after a stalemate in a match in which the Yellows were slightly better than their opponents and, especially at the start of the second half, had chances to earn more than just a draw.

Both teams faced each other at the Estadio de la Cerámica on Saturday afternoon. The Yellows, with better feelings and results in recent weeks after beating Tenerife at home and drawing against UD Andorra, tried to beat Real Zaragoza to get three points that would allow them to get out of the relegation places.

Equality was the dominant tone of the game during the first half. Real Zaragoza, motivated by the encouragement of their fans who cheered them on from the stands of the stadium, put pressure on the Mini Submarine, who, without being intimidated, managed to come out with the ball played with a lot of criteria, finding the first gaps in the visitors’ defence.

Miguel Álvarez’s side’s two big chances in the first half came from Carlo Adriano. In both, after great individual play, his shot lacked the power to trouble Edgar Badía. For their part, Zaragoza had their best chance of the first 45 minutes with Maikel M.’s powerful shot from inside the area, which Iker Álvarez saved with a great save to keep out for a corner.

At half-time, the initial draw remained on the scoreboard.

Villarreal B came out like a shot in the second half. In the first five minutes of play, Miguel Álvarez’s men had two chances to take the lead. First through Carlo, who came from the second line to finish from the penalty spot from a ball left behind by Altimira. His shot, however, was blocked by an opposing defender.

Just two minutes later, the strategy almost paid off in the form of a Villarreal B goal. Alti’s shot from the edge of the area, which was poisoned after being touched by a rival defender, came close to troubling the visitors’ goalkeeper.

The Yellows’ dominance continued for the rest of the second half, but in the end the goal was not forthcoming, and the match ended in a draw.
