The balance between studying, training and eating well is the foundation of the Yellows youngsters’ routines during these weeks of lockdown
A routine to face being in lockdown. Training, time for studying and a balanced diet are the foundations of the daily routine of Villarreal youngsters during lockdown.
After the state of alarm being called in Spain, with sporting activity being suspended, co-ordinators and coaches from the Yellows Academy have got to work at designing a work plan adapted to the necessities of the Yellows Academy players, as well as the reality they’re living in. The aim is to preserve the physical and mental health of the players, trying to maintain, within the current restrictions and limits, the routine the players were following before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The schedule and length of each activity vary, depending on each team, taking into accounts the needs and situation of each player. However, at the end of the day, all academy players complete the recommendations given by the distinct coaching staff.
An example of a daily routine
The Yellows youngsters get up early enough to have breakfast at 9am, half an hour before starting the group training session, which they carry out alongside the rest of their team-mates, under the supervision of their coaches through a videocalling app. Once the session is over, at 11am, they switch to studying, focusing on their education before lunch.
From 1:30pm to 4pm, they have enough time to eat and rest before the afternoon’s activities. From 4pm to 5:30pm, they address, alongside their coaches, their individual objectives with diverse tasks such as revising game play.
With the sporting work over for the day, until 6pm, they have a while to have a snack before returning to their studies for around another hour. At 7pm, until dinner time, they use the time for leisure activities, such as speaking to their friends, play video games, read books or enjoy series.
Dinner is at 9pm. The players eat similar food to what they would do at the residence in the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva). A balanced and varied diet that gives them necessary nutrients for their demanding routine.
