Villarreal CF head coach Quique Setién spoke at the press following the defeat to Rayo Vallecano (0-1) at the Estadio de la Cerámica. These were the most important statements made by him:
Difficulties and lack of finesse
“They adjusted their press in the second half and it was difficult for us to come out from the back. We found it very difficult and we didn’t have the finesse we needed to overcome that line of pressure. In the first half we should have taken some of the chances we had. It’s more to Rayo’s credit than ours, as they played a great second half.”
Credit to our opponents
“Our opponents closed down us playing out from the back and pressed high. They closed down Parejo and we couldn’t manage to do what we have done on other occasions.”

“We were on a very good run. We lost against a great team. It’s true that the sensations of the second half are good. I’m satisfied with the first half we played and, with a bit more luck, we would have scored a goal that would have changed the whole game.”
