The Yellows head coach has praised Real Madrid’s good form and underlined the need for a perfect performance
Villarreal head coach, Quique Setién, appeared before the media on Thursday to analyse the match against Real Madrid, corresponding Gameweek 28 of LaLiga, which will be played this Saturday, at 9pm CEST, at the Santiago Barnabéu.
Real Madrid, an ‘indecipherable’ opponent
“You never know what is better or worse against Madrid. You don’t know if it’s better to dominate or to be dominated. Whether to have chances from the start or to score at the end. It’s a different team to all the others. With Madrid, it’s always indecipherable. You don’t know what their reactions will be, your moments to hurt them. It’s complicated to prepare for a game like this.”
Making the right decisions will be key
“Obviously, making the right decisions and ensuring that our opponents don’t score as well is what has the biggest influence. The most important thing is to be on target and to be able to defend well. Against Madrid it’s impossible for them not to create four or five chances no matter how well you do things. We’ll have a few and we have to get them right and make sure they don’t get them right in order to win.”
Two tight previous meetings in 2023
“The January games against Real Madrid (1-0 and 2-3) were open games with options. We made it quite difficult for them at the Estadio de la Cerámica. We have to give them credit because they are not an easy team. We hope to be able to give that level and play a similar game. Then we’ll see how good we are. One thing is the game plan and another is what happens on the pitch. We know that we’re up against a difficult opponent. We have to do things right and stay focused. They are decisive in their area and it’s difficult to score against them.”
