Villarreal CF will look for their seventh consecutive win in LALIGA EA Sports in an exciting regional derby (Sunday, 6.30pm CET)
Villarreal CF want to keep enjoying their excellent run in LALIGA EA Sports. Marcelino’s side shift their focus back to domestic competition as they prepare to face Levante UD this Sunday at 6.30pm CET at the Ciutat de València.
Both teams are gearing up for a thrilling regional derby. The Yellows will be fighting to claim their seventh consecutive league victory, while the home side will look to break their losing streak and secure a win that allows them to look upward and move off the bottom of the table.
The Yellows put behind them the setback against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League (2–3) and approach the first challenge of the final sprint of the 2025 calendar year with respect and maximum ambition. Their aim is clear: to beat Levante, despite the difficulty posed by the Valencian side’s situation and their strong desire to collect points and escape the relegation zone.
Injuries continue to affect the Submarine. The positive news is the return of Juan Foyth, who is available again after serving his suspension in the last Champions League match.
A difficult venue for the Submarine
The Ciutat de València has not been an easy ground for Villarreal CF in recent years. The latest results against Levante UD underscore this. The two sides have not met since April 2022, when the last meeting there ended in a 2–0 victory for Levante, with Villarreal then coached by Unai Emery.
Villarreal have managed only two wins in their last seven visits to Levante’s stadium. One of them came in the historic 2020/21 season, in which the Yellows lifted the UEFA Europa League and defeated Levante 1–5 in this special regional derby, with a brace from Samu Chukwueze.
