The young, Vila-real born centre back made his debut for the First Team vs CD Toledo in the cup

Pau Francisco Torres was one of the stars of yesterday’s match against CD Toledo in the second leg of the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey. The young, Vila-real centre back, who has played for Villarreal for 14 seasons, made his debut for the First Team squad, coming on in the 79th minute. Pau was very grateful to Villarreal Manager, Fran Escribá, for giving him the opportunity: “A year ago I never could have imagined this. I’m really happy with the way this club has always treated me and the confidence that Fran Escribá has shown in me. I’ve been at this club all my life and I’ve achieved my dream”.

The young, lifetime Yellow is one of three players, along with César Arzo and Héctor Font, to have made his debut for his hometown team: “It’s a plus to be from the town and have played for Villarreal since I was young. I’ve made my debut in the cup, but I hope to do the same in the First Division. Why not follow in the footsteps of César and Héctor Font”.

The player insisted he will keep working as he has been up until now so that Escribá can rely on him, but for now he’ll be focusing on his current team: Villarreal B. “I have to keep working hard for the Villarreal B team as I’m doing. I’m getting the chance to play a lot of minutes and I’m very happy with and grateful to Paco López. I have to keep putting in the work for Villarreal B to have more opportunities with the First Team”.

Lastly, Pau Francisco Torres had a wish for 2017: “I would like to start the New Year as I’ve finished 2016 and to be at the top of the table with the Reserves at the end of the season, which is very important, to get promoted to the Second Division with the Villarreal B team”.
