Villarreal B host CD Eldense for their first home game of the season this Monday at 7pm CEST
Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez appeared at the press conference prior to the match between the Mini Submarine and CD Eldense, corresponding to matchday 2 of LALIGA Hypermotion, which will take place on Monday 21st August at 7pm CEST at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
This is what he had to say about the upcoming match:
The status of the team
“The team is feeling very good. It’s also been a very long week to work, which benefits us because in pre-season we’ve been able to work less than we wanted to with some of the lads. In addition, we have important players like Carlos Romero, who has already trained with the team today, and Diego Collado and Pablo Iñiguez are also back in training.”
Qué partido espera
“I’m expecting a very difficult game because when teams get promoted they have that positive momentum, especially if the head coach and a large part of the squad stay with them. They have been promoted on merit and I liked them a lot in the promotion play-offs and the other day against Cartagena. They have also strengthened very well and have put together a very good squad, they are a serious team.”
A direct opponent
“Last year at the end of the season we had lost the head-to-head record with many of the teams below us, but we were always very calm. It’s true that in the first half of the season you don’t attach so much importance to those results, but we have to be a very strong team at home and winning against teams that you understand could be competing for the same aims as us is always very positive.”
Alti
“As a coach I adapt, I don’t worry. If we get him I’ll be very happy, but one of the basic principles of a B team coach is to adapt to the first team and the circumstances. We also have Lanchi and, at the moment, we also have Marcos, who is at a great level.”
