The Asturian coach has unveiled the commemorative tile displayed outside the Estadio de la Cerámica
Marcelino García Toral is officially a Villarreal CF legend. The Yellow Submarine have paid tribute to him by installing a commemorative tile in his honour on the Passeig Groc, the club’s walk of fame located outside the Estadio de la Cerámica.
Ahead of the match against Atlético, accompanied by Villarreal CF president Fernando Roig and CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles, Marcelino unveiled the commemorative tile, which recognises his successful seven seasons in charge of the team, during which he achieved the long-awaited promotion to LALIGA in 2013, five European qualifications —three of them for the Champions League— and two semi-final appearances, one in the Copa del Rey (2015) and another in the Europa League (2016).
After his two spells as head coach, the Asturian, with 298 matches, is the manager who has taken charge of the club the most times in its history.
