The former Villarreal CF academy player extends her contract for two more seasons
Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with Lucía Gómez to extend her contract for two more seasons, until June 2026.
The Castellón-born defender, who arrived the club at U12 level, joined UD Levante after eight years with the Yellow Submarine, having made her first-team debut at the age of 15.
Following a seven-year spell with Las Granotas, Gómez returned to the Yellow Submarine in the January transfer window in the 2022/23 season for her second stint at the club. The first few months following her return saw Gómez undergo rehabilitation from an anterior cruciate ligament injury, before making her long-awaited return after two years away from the pitch on 30th September 2023.
During the 2023/24 season, Lucía Gomez made 28 appearances in Liga F and one in the Copa de la Reina. Now, having fully recovered from her injury, she has decided to extend her contract with Villarreal CF and will be one of the most important players to help the team return to the top flight of women’s football in Spain.
