Villarreal B earn a key win at home to Tenerife with a great goal from Forés
Villarreal B picked up a vital win at home to Tenerife (1-0) in a game in which the Yellows, once again putting in a huge amount of hard work and dedication, took all three points thanks to a great goal from Álex Forés, who has now scored eleven goals in LaLiga Hypermotion. With the win, Miguel Álvarez’s side remain in the fight to stay out of the relegation zone.
The first half was a back and forth affair between the Yellows and Blues, although with few chances. With both teams wide open and eager to move the ball around, Villarreal B and Tenerife fought for control of the ball. In the 36th minute came one of the key moments of the match when the visitors’ striker Ángel was shown a straight red card for a dangerous challenge on Lekovic. Tenerife were reduced to ten men.
The second half started with a different air. The visitors, more defensive, tried to repel the Yellows’ attacks, but it was Miguel Álvarez’s men who struck first. In the 56th minute, Forés received the ball inside the area and, after cutting back to beat the defender, he made it 1-0 with a low shot.
After the goal, the Yellows’ pressure intensified and, although Tenerife did not suffer too much, they were unable to threaten Iker Álvarez’s goal. It was the home side who, through Ontiveros, came close to widening the gap from a direct free-kick, but the winger’s shot went over the bar.
In the end, three golden points for Villarreal B, who next Saturday (4:15pm CET) visit direct rivals FC Andorra at the Estadi Nacional (Matchday 27).
