Villarreal will end pre-season against the Nerazzurri
Last test of the European Summer Tour 2022 Color Star! Villarreal are travelling to Italy today to face Inter Milan on Saturday (8:30pm CEST) at the Stadio Adriatico. After winning their last friendly match against Levante UD (3-1), and getting their fifth win of pre-season from seven matches, Unai Emery’s side have a big challenge against Inter, a world-renowned side.
Founded in 1908, Inter Milan have 40 trophies, including three UEFA Champions Leagues. It was in this competition, and against the Italian side, that Yellows have a great memory. In the 205/06 season, the two sides faced each other in the quarter-finals, with Villarreal progressing after a memorable second leg, where the Yellows qualified thanks to a Rodolfo Arruabarrena goal, and reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
The Italians are managed by former international striker Simone Inzaghi, and, under her orders, last season, they won the Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup. Inter have also had great players in their history, such as Adriano, Ronaldo Nazario, Diego Milito and Esteban Cambiasso, as well as footballers such as Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martínez and Nicolò Barella.
