Marcelino has analysed the Submarine’s next opponent (Sunday, 6:30pm CEST)
Villarreal CF head coach, Marcelino García Toral, spoke to the media ahead of his team’s game against Getafe next Sunday at the Estadio de la Cerámica, which kicks off at 6:30pm CEST:
Marcelino is expecting a difficult match against a Getafe side who currently sit in 16th place in LALIGA EA Sports. Here are the key points he made:
Keeping up the good form
“The start of the season is something to be very happy about. We have played against the big three teams in our league and we had other complicated games. We are satisfied with the performance of the players after these nine games. Now we restart the competition with the illusion and ambition to win again at home. With the support of the fans and the determination of our players, we will try to beat a difficult team.”
The rival: Getafe CF
“They are a tough team to face. It’s a game where you have to be patient, but they don’t allow you to be patient because they press very high, they attack very directly and that means you have to constantly make decisions both in defence and in attack. It’s a difficult game, that’s how we face it, but our intention is to win, with patience, with pace and high intensity and with a criterion of play.”
Villarreal would be fourth in the table in the calendar year
“It shows the good work these players have done throughout the year. Those who were here previously and those who are here now. We will try to continue another year with these numbers, it would be a good indicator and it would make us reach an extraordinary end of the competition, but we must take it step by step and focus exclusively on this Sunday’s game.”
Álex Baena’s great form
“He is a great player. We are delighted with all his successes. He’s a very young player who needs to mature, develop and progress. We will try to help him as much as we can, give him the advice we can so that a player who is now at a high level can reach a better one. He comes from a successful summer, but also a demanding one. We have to look after him physically and mentally so that he doesn’t get exhausted, because his best version is yet to come.”
