Villarreal CF has presented all the activities that will take place throughout 2023 to celebrate the club’s 100 years of history

Villarreal CF have this Monday presented the calendar of activities that are going to take place throughout the 2023 calendar year to commemorate the 100 years of the Yellows in a special, emotional ceremony, which took place in the Vila-real auditorium.

In the gala, the centenary anthem, and the official centenary shirt were officially unveiled.

The main activities as part of the centenary that will be taking place are the following:

Saturday 31st December (4:15pm CET): return to the Estadio de la Cerámica for Villarreal CF vs Valencia CF

Villarreal CF will celebrate its return home to the Estadio de la Cerámica, hosting Valencia CF on 31st December at 4:15pm CET, on the eve of 2023. The Submarine will see the fans in the new-look stadium for the first time, in what will be a big party to welcome the upcoming 2023 calendar year, when the club will celebrate its 100 years of history.

To mark the occasion, the future of the club will take centre stage. A total of 100 academy players will be part of the party, with flags around the pitch. The centenary anthem will be the first thing played through the new sound system and will be shown on the impressive scoreboard in the transformed Estadio de la Cerámica. In the build-up to the game, there will be distinct videos featuring the club’s history. There will also be an impressive countdown and fireworks for the teams’ arrival onto the pitch.

Friday 10th March (8pm CET): A massive birthday party at the Estadio de la Cerámica

The Submarine will host a special birthday party on Friday 10th March at 8pm CET at the Estadio de la Cerámica. Coinciding with the exact day of its foundation, the club will be celebrating the club’s centenary in style by organising a fantastic audiovisual and musical show, with performances by Xarxa Teatre on the pitch, representing 100 years of Villarreal’s history. Admission will be free for all season-ticket holders.

This fantastic celebration will end with a live performance of the official Villarreal CF centenary anthem, which will be accompanied by Nacho Cano and hundreds of groups of prestigious musicians from our province, who will perform this piece in front of more than 20,000 groguets, who, we hope, will fill the stands of the Estadio de la Cerámica.

Saturday 11th March: commemorative ONCE coupon for the Villarreal CF centenary

ONCE (Spanish National Organisation for the Blind – Organización Nacional de Ciegos Españoles) will commemorate Villarreal CF’s 100 years of history with its coupon for Saturday 11th March, which will carry a Yellow Submarine motif in honour of its centenary.

Saturday 25th March (6pm CET): legends match between Villarreal CF and Spain

Villarreal CF will organise a legends match between historic players of the Yellow Submarine and the Spanish national team, which will be played on Saturday 25th March at 6pm CET at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

A unique occasion where we will see legends from the Submarine’s history back on the pitch, alongside celebrated former Spain internationals. A very special football part, which, will also end with an emotional reception for Villarreal CF’s most legendary former players.

Saturday 24th June: celebration honouring the fans and charity race

On Saturday 24th June, Villarreal CF will hold an open day at the Estadio de la Cerámica to pay tribute to all its fans. Yellows fans will be able to freely tour the most exclusive corners of the stadium: the changing rooms, the dugout and even the pitch. They will also have the opportunity to visit the remodelled areas of the new Estadio de la Cerámica, such as the VIP box, the Super Tribuna and the Fondo Sur, among others.

As if that wasn’t enough, on the same day, shows will be organised on the pitch, with activities for all ages and live music.

To round off the day, on 24th June in Vila-real, the charity organised by the Peña Celtic Submarí will be held. For 2023, this event, which celebrates its tenth anniversary, will have a distinctive touch, as both the start and finish of the race will be from the grass of the Estadio de la Cerámica. The funds raised will be donated to a charitable cause.

Villarreal’s collaboration with a musical project of guitarist Francisco Tárrega

Villarreal CF and Vila-real Town Council are going to collaborate and co-produce a musical project by the famous guitarist Francisco Tárrega, as a sign of the city’s identity. The purpose of this project is to contribute to raising awareness of the cultural wealth of Vila-real. Not in vain, the history of the football club is linked to that of its city, culture and society. This initiative has the support of musicians and artists from Vila-real.
