Villarreal CF are encouraging dog adoption with an initiative in collaboration with AUPA and with its dogs as the protagonists
Villarreal CF have partnered with dog shelter AUPA (Adopt an Abandoned Dog) to create an original institutional gift ahead of the 2024/25 season. Through the Endavant Solidaritat programme, the Yellows have come up with an original initiative to introduce people to the dogs and therefore encourage Yellows supporters and rival fans to adopt them.
The institutional gift that Villarreal CF will present to their league rivals is a series of artistic tiles (20x25cm) created by 19 dogs from the Valencian shelter. Each tile will in turn be a main feature at the Yellow Submarine’s home matches, in order to familiarise Yellows fans with the dogs and help them find an adoptive family.
Each institutional gift will be completely unique. The dogs, with their feet painted in the distinctive colours of each opposing team, will walk on a white canvas, creating a singular design for each match. This abstract creation will then be printed on a ceramic tile, the household product in the Castellón province.
Thanks to this innovative campaign named ‘Canine art’, Villarreal CF aim to raise awareness amongst both club and rival supporters about the importance of not abandoning animals, as well as promoting the adoption of homeless dogs. All the while, they will be combining ceramics and solidarity, two of the hallmarks of the club.
