The forward is Villarreal’s top scorer with 14 goals
José Luis Morales is in great form at the moment. The striker has 14 goals to date, making him Villarreal CF’s top scorer in the 2022/23 season.
The Madrid-born player signed for Villarreal CF on 24th June 2022, motivated, among other reasons, by the opportunity the Yellows gave him to play in a European competition, something he had not yet done in his career. And the Spaniard made good use of this opportunity. Morales played eight games in the UEFA Europa Conference League in which he scored a total of four goals – including a hat-trick against Austria Wien – and was Villarreal’s top scorer in this competition alongside Álex Baena.
He has also been able to make the most of his opportunities in both the Copa del Rey and LaLiga. In the knockout competition, the Spaniard scored twice in the three games he played, while in the league, the 22-year-old, who has six goals to his name, is going through a great period in the domestic competition. Morales sealed the win against Almería with a great volley and was, together with Yeremy Pino, the star of the recent win against CA Osasuna (0-3), scoring a brace, with one of the goals coming from 47 metres out.
The sum of the goals scored by Morales in the three competitions makes a total of 14 goals. In other words, he has equalled his best goalscoring record, which he achieved in the 2020/21 season with Levante UD. So, in the remaining 12 games in LaLiga Santander, José Luis Morales has a great opportunity to reach his best goalscoring record in his entire career.
José Morales is followed in the list of top scorers by Samu Chukwueze with 11 goals and Álex Baena and Gerard Moreno with ten.
