Several Villarreal CF teams took part in different Easter tournaments with great results
What an Easter period the Yellows Academy teams have had! Almost all the Villarreal youth teams, except for those who continued with their league championships such as Villarreal C and the U19s (Juvenil A), have enjoyed a wide variety of tournaments, living unparalleled experiences from Vila-real to abroad, also passing through different parts of Spain.
Two Yellows teams were proclaimed champions of the ever-exciting Easter competitions. The U14s (Infantil A) were crowned champions of the Yellow Cup Easter at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground. They beat EFB Alcázar with a resounding 3-0 win.
Also taking part in the leading Easter tournament were the U9s (Benjamín B), who were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Nàstic Manresa A on penalties; the U7s (Mini B), who reached the semi-finals; Benjamín A Roda, who also lost on penalties to Igualada in the quarter-finals; the U11s (Alevín B), who lost in the semi-finals to FC Barcelona; and Alevín C, who also came close to reaching the final against Real Sociedad.
For their part, the U12s (Alevín A) showed that they know how to compete against the big teams before LaLiga Promises by winning the Santa Ponsa Cup in Mallorca. The Yellows beat Sevilla FC 3-1 in the final. Previously, they had knocked out Bologna 1-0 in the semi-finals and had competed in the group stage against other big rivals such as Mallorca and Real Betis.
Other Villarreal teams enjoyed unique experiences, such as the U16s (Cadete A), who attended the tournament organised by Al Ain, held in Dubai, competing against top teams such as Sporting Clube de Portugal, Leeds United and Inter Milan, among others. In addition, the Íscar Cup in Torrejón de Ardoz also had Villarreal representation with the U10s (Benjamín A), who completed a great group stage and then lost to Real Betis.
Mallorca, Torrejón de Ardoz and the United Arab Emirates are some of the destinations that the Yellows Academy teams went to, but others played in the Primer Toque tournament, hosted by one of Villarreal’s partner clubs, in Castellón. Alevín A Roda were beaten in the consolation final on penalties by Mislata, another of the clubs that have a collaboration agreement with the yellow club. In this competition they also faced other top level clubs such as Inter San José, CF Gandía and Gavà, also a club with an agreement with the Submarine. The orange club’s tournament was also attended by Roda’s Alevín B, Mini A and Benjamín D teams.
