More than a thousand people attended the inauguration for the tournament at the Estadio de la Cerámica
The XXX Geotiles LaLiga Promises national tournament celebrated the opening ceremony this evening before a crowd of xxx at the Estadio de la Cerámica, where on Friday, Saturday and Sunday the 30th edition of the best youth football tournament will be played, organised by LaLiga with Villarreal CF and the Fundación José Ramón de la Morena.
Villarreal CF president, Fernand Roig, LaLiga president, Javier Tebas, and José Ramón de la Morena were present at the spectacular opening ceremony with the 240 players who are split into 20 teams in the U12 age group and will compete at the Yellows stadium to be crowned champions of the 30th edition of the prestigious tournament.
Santi Cazorla, who will wear Yellow once more to play in the tournament with the Villarreal U12s as a special initiative to mark the 30th anniversary of the championship, was also at the stadium that was his home for so many years for this special opening ceremony.
During the event, Javier Tebas underlined the importance of this tournament for the future of the players who are participating: “LaLiga Promises is a showcase for the future stars of our Spanish football such as Andrés Iniesta, Fernando Torres, Iago Aspas or Pau Torres who played in this tournament in the past”. He added that to play in a stadium such as Villarreal’s is “an incredible experience for the boys”.
José Ramón de la Morena, president of the foundation that organizes the tournament in collaboration with the Yellow Submarine, gave a moving speech to the 240 participants: “In this video there are 30 years of history of this youth tournament, 30 years that we have had the privilege of seeing the players grow that are the present and the future of Spanish football. Achieving your dreams depends fundamentally on your effort and talent, on the people that you choose as your role models on your professional pathway. But the important thing isn’t only that you become great footballers, but that you become great people, with good principles and values.”
The competition will start tomorrow with the group stages which will go through until Saturday and the semi-finals are on Sunday 18th June at 10am and the final at 1pm
These are the groups that will play the XXX Geotiles LaLiga Promises Santander:
- Group A: Real Madrid, Villarreal CF, Athletic Club, Girona FC and UD Almería.
- Group B: Sevilla FC, RCD Espanyol, Getafe CF, RCD Mallorca and Cádiz CF.
- Group C: FC Barcelona, Valencia CF, CA Osasuna, RC Celta and Rayo Vallecano.
- Group D: Atlético de Madrid, Real Betis, Real Sociedad, Real Valladolid CF and Elche CF.
