The left-back has been called up for the match against Norway (Sunday 8:45pm CEST)

Alfonso Pedraza has been called up to the senior Spanish national team! The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced last night after the match against Scotland that Villarreal CF left-back Alfonso Pedraza had been called up to the national team, due to Alejandro Balde’s and Nico Williams’ physical problems.

He will join up with his teammates today, Friday, and will travel to Oslo to face Norway on Sunday, at 8:45pm CEST, in the match corresponding to Matchday 8 of the qualifiers for Euro 2024.

Another Yellow to represent Spain

Should Alfonso Pedraza be handed his first senior cap, he would become the 21st Submarine player to make his senior debut after Unai Vergara, Guayre, Marcos Senna, Joan Capdevila, Angel López, Santi Cazorla, Diego López, Carlos Marchena, Bruno Soriano, Borja Valero, Mario Gaspar, Sergio Asenjo, Denis Suárez, Rodrigo Hernández, Pablo Fornals, Raúl Albiol, Gerard Moreno, Pau Torres and Yeremy Pino.

Pedraza already knows what it is like to represent his country at youth level. The Cordoba-born player played with the U19s at the 2015 UEFA European Championships, where they were crowned champions, and the 2017 and 2019 editions with the U21s, winning the latter of these two.
