Villarreal B beat Real Valladolid at La Cerámica thanks to Forés’ goal
The match between Villarreal B and Valladolid took place on Monday at 8:30pm at the Estadio de la Cerámica to round off LALIGA HYPERMOTION matchday 20. Miguel Álvarez’s side were looking for the three points to move away from the relegation zone, while Real Valladolid, in second place in the league, were looking to stay in the automatic promotion places and put pressure on CD Leganés, the league leaders.
Villarreal B started the game with great determination. For the first 10 minutes of the game, they withstood Real Valladolid’s initial push to take the lead. The away side, through Kenedy and some of their wide players, put Iker Álvarez to the test, but he was able to keep out the visitors’ attempts.
The B team did not hide and also began to have their chances of danger. Jorge Pascual tried twice with two long-range shots that failed to find the target.
In the 24th minute Forés, the Mini Submarine’s top scorer, picked up the ball at the edge of the area and shot with the toe of his right foot, squeezing it inside the right-hand post of Masip’s goal to make it 1-0.
Real Valladolid tried to react after Forés’ goal, but they came up against a well-placed Villarreal B side who easily disposed of their attempts.
At the end of the first 45 minutes, the Mini Submarine were ahead thanks to Forés’ goal.
Pucela stepped up at the start of the second half in search of an equaliser, but Iker again denied Pezzolano’s side in the opening minutes of the second half.
In the 58th minute of the game, another piece of great news for Villarreal B arrived. Alberto Del Moral, almost two months later, was back in action after overcoming his injury problems.
In the 66th minute, the Mini Submarine played the ball out from the back and Gelardo, in the final third, produced a great through ball to Forés who, one-on-one with Masip, shot against the Catalan goalkeeper who, in the last instance, touched it with his right hand to avoid the 2-0.
Iker Álvarez held Villarreal B for the next few minutes, making some fine saves to deny Real Valladolid a goal.
Miguel Álvarez responded from the bench. Requena and Rodri Alonso came on to give fresh legs to his team and respond to the rival’s advance.
In the 80th minute, Carlo Adriano had a great chance to make it 2-0 with a shot from the penalty spot, but Masip cleared for a corner.
Villarreal B were able to withstand Real Valladolid’s siege right to the end and picked up three golden points thanks to Forés’ goal, which put them four points clear of the relegation zone.
After beating Real Valladolid, Villarreal B will end 2023 on Thursday 21st December, at 7pm CET, against Real Oviedo at the Estadio de la Cerámica in the match corresponding to Matchday 21 of LALIGA HYPERMOTION.
