Villarreal B shakes off pressure by beating Alcorcón with a great performance
Villarreal B got some breathing space after a big win over Alcorcón (4-0) in an almost perfect performance by Miguel Álvarez’s side, who thrashed the side from Madrid with goals from Etta Eyong (2), Pau Cabanes and Luis Quintero.
It was a flawless first half for the Mini Submarine. Orderly and in control of the game, Villarreal B struck after a quarter of an hour when Etta Eyong picked up a ball on the edge of the area and, with a powerful shot, fired it into the top corner for the Yellows’ first goal. Ten minutes later, Pau Cabanes, from the left, produced a spectacular individual move and, after a great run, scored the second with a great shot.
The second half, despite a stretch in which Alcorcón tried to hurt the Yellows, also ended up going well for Miguel Álvarez’s men, who were once again at their best. In the 71st minute, Villarreal B had the chance to put the game to bed when Alcorcón were reduced to ten men after a penalty on Thiago Ojeda, but Ayesa, with a great save, prevented the third goal.
A 3-0 lead would come in the 83rd minute when Luis Quintero scored seven minutes from time after a beautiful counter-attack and then Etta Eyong scored again in the last play of the game to make it 4-0.
