Gerard Moreno and Marcos Senna have visited the daughters of the club’s founder and have given them a symbolic t-shirt as a gift

A very special surprise. Villarreal CF wanted to do something special for the daughters of José Calduch Almela, founder and first president of the club. The Yellow’s footballer Gerard Moreno and former player Marcos Senna visited the home of the Calduch sisters, Gloria and Delfina (aged 93 and 95 respectively), to surprise them with a commemorative shirt to mark the club’s centenary.

In celebration of the centenary season, Villarreal CF is paying tribute to some of the Yellow Submarine’s most special people. A few weeks ago, the club paid a special tribute to Ricardo Agulleiro, a die-hard fan who has accompanied the club in the many milestones achieved throughout its almost 100 years of history.

José Calduch Almela, pioneer and founder

José Calduch Almela (Vila-real, 9th March 1900 – 23rd October 1996) was an important local pharmacist, as well as founder and first president of Villarreal. In 1920, after completing his pharmaceutical studies in Barcelona, he returned to Vila-real to run the family pharmacy and, in 1923, he founded the city’s football club and began the construction of the El Madrigal football ground, now known as the Estadio de la Cerámica.

Take part in the construction of the Historical Archive!

On the occasion of the club’s centenary, Villarreal CF has promoted the creation of the Historical Archive, a project whose aim is to gather all kinds of items linked to the club, which will allow us to reconstruct and enjoy the different moments in the Submarine’s history again.

This is an initiative that, in the club’s centenary year, is here to stay with the mission of regaining our roots and strengthening the foundations of the club from now on. In order to carry it out, Villarreal CF invites its fans to submit photos, videos, objects or documents that could be useful to form a quality historical archive.

Fans can contact the club to collaborate in the initiative by filling out an online form, by telephone (964 500 250) or by going to the Centre Shop (Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am to 3pm and 5pm to 8pm).
