The Yellows head coach underlined the squad’s motivation ahead of the start of the European competition
Villarreal head coach Unai Emery appeared alongside José Luis Morales in a press conference in the pre-match press conference ahead of the UEFA Europa Conference League which will take place tomorrow (Thursday 8th September) at 6:45pm CEST at the Ciutat de València against Lech Poznan.
Here is what the Basque manager had to say:
The match
“We want to give continuity to what we have done both in pre-season and at the start of LaLiga. We also want to strengthen our style, be demanding in our search for a good performance and be able to get our hopes up on the road to Europe, which has given us some great moments.”
Favourites?
“Winning is very difficult. It’s going to be a beautiful path, but also a complicated one. We can’t set ourselves the objective of winning the competition. The first objective we set ourselves is to finish first in the group stage.”
Feelings
“The whole group is very motivated. The challenge is to be able to maintain consistency and motivation in all three competitions and for everyone to be involved. This will be the main difficulty on our journey.”
Mojica
“With the departure of Estupiñán we needed someone, we didn’t want to give Alfonso the responsibility in all three competitions. I see Alberto in a more advanced position. Both are going to have minutes, otherwise his arrival would not be justified.”
Key points for the game
“Lech Poznan are a team that plays in a league with a lot of history. They are a team with important credentials that we have to respect. In the league they are back on form after winning their last three games. They have good players on the flanks, they are used to winning in their league, they play good football and they have quite a few internationals.”
A message for fans
“They are very important for us. Their motivation when we travel is a boost for us. So far they have always been with us and we have felt supported and protected and that is an important motivation for us. Let’s hope they will be there tomorrow too.”
