Villarreal C beat Torrevieja and picked up their first win of the season after an exciting encounter. The Yellows C team went 3-0 ahead, but the sending off of Pablo Álvarez, after two yellow cards, just before the break complicated things considerably for Carlos Pérez Salvachúa's side.
The Yellows took the lead in the 14th minute. The Ukranian Álex hit a great shot across the goal that flew into the back of the net at the far post, illuminating the score board into action at the Mini Estadi.
The second Yellows goal followed shortly after. In the 32nd minute, Darío with a great play down the right wing put a Hollywood ball in for Chica, who ran onto it and buried it to add to the Yellows’ lead.
Not long after, in the 38th minute, Simón scored to make it 3-0. The striker found himself with the ball in the Torrevieja area and with the goalkeeper down scored the third.
Just before the break the game-changing moment arrived, Villarreal’s Pablo Álvarez commited a foul in the box and received his second yellow card from the referee who also pointed to the penalty spot. Zapató scored the penalty for the visitors and Villarreal found themselves 3-1 up with one man down.
After the break, Carlos Pérez Salvachúa’s side withstood Torrevieja’s attacks, but could not keep out the opposition’s second, courtesy of Hugo Salamanca, whose header in the 79th minute made it 3-2. The Villarreal C team hung on until the end for the victory.
