The talented Canarian youngster forms part of the 40 players nominated for the award for the best young player

Villarreal footballer Yeremy Pino is one of the candidates to lift the Golden Boy prize. The skilful Canarian player is part of the list of 40 players nominated for this prestigious award, which is given out by Italian newspaper Tuttosport to the best U21 footballer in the world.

A record-breaking year for Yeremy Pino

In less than 365 days, Yeremy has broken onto the scene for Villarreal CF. Through hard work and impressive performances, the teenager has convinced Emery and become an important footballer for the Yellows. Last season, he played a total of 37 games.

The cherry on top of an impressive season was lifting the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League. If that wasn’t enough, he went down in history as the youngest player to lift the prestigious continental tournament, aged just 18 years and 218 days.

His impressive performance with Villarreal CF have led to Spain U21s call-ups. This year, he took part in the European U21 Championships with Luis de la Fuente’s side and was even called up to the parallel bubble to the Spain senior squad ahead of the Euros.
