
Villarreal U16s win Tri-Series Aspire Academy tournament in Doha
Two Villarreal Academy teams shined at the prestigious Tri-Series Aspire Academy tournament that took place in Doha (Qatar). The Villarreal U16 A team, managed by Xavi Cano, Pepe Alcaide and Carlos Ibáñez, became champions of the triangle tournament after drawing their first match against Bahia Sport Clube from Brasil (2-2) with goals from Nacho Díaz and Jorge Carlos Galdón, and defeating Aspire 2-0 in the second match of the tournament with Goyo Medina and Jorge Carlos Galdón as goal scorers.
Meanwhile, the Villarreal U19 B team, manged by Pablo Godoy, Paula Roig and Sergi López, also drew against Bahia Sport Clube from Brasil in their first match of the competition (2-2), in a match in which the Yellows took the lead with a goal by Lara, and finished with two less players as Bartek and Yassine were sent off. On the second day of the Tri-Series Aspire Academy tournament, the U19 B team was defeated by hosts Aspire, 2-1, in a match where fatigue had the final say for the Yellows, their only goal scored by Dani.
The Yellows will return to Spain this Thursday.
