Goals from Yeremy and Gerard saw the Yellows win against Southampton<\/p>\r\n\n\n\r\n

Villarreal CF have picked up yet another win in the fifth friendly of the European Summer Tour 2022 Color Star, the pre-season tour that the Submarine are taking part in, facing a number of different European rivals. Today, Unai Emery\u2019s side visited St Mary\u2019s Stadium to take on Southampton, a historic English side who were unable to do anything after a great performance from the Yellows, who beat Saints thanks to goals from Yeremy and Gerard.<\/p>\r\n

The match started frenetically thanks to followers from both teams, who, in the first ten minutes of the match, saw how both Saints and the Yellows had great chances to open the scoring. However, Villarreal were going to be the team that would go ahead on the scoreboard in the 15th<\/sup> minute, and after a great run from Nicolas Jackson, and Yeremy scored a diving header from the Senegalese striker\u2019s cross from the left. It was the second goal of the academy graduate in pre-season, and the only one of the first half.<\/p>\r\n

At the start of the second half, the English side tried to fight back and were able to. In the 64th<\/sup> minute of the match, Joe Aribo equalised after scoring past Pepe Reina \u2013 who made a great save at the start of the second half \u2013 after an excellent individual run. Villarreal fought back and didn\u2019t let their heads drop, going ahead once more in the 72nd<\/sup> minute. Pau Torres brought the ball out from the back, played it through to \u00c1lex Baena who in the final third, played a great through ball to Gerard, who from inside the box with his left foot, sent the ball into the back of the net to put the Submarine ahead once more.<\/p>\r\n

The second half also saw Kiko Femen\u00eda make his Villarreal CF debut, coming on in the 76th<\/sup> minute to enjoy the last quarter of an hour of the match.<\/p>\r\n

The game ended 1-2. After the win against Southampton, Villarreal have another test in England as they prepare for the start of the LaLiga Santander, facing Fulham tomorrow at 4pm CEST at Craven Cottage. The match will be shown on Gol in Spain.<\/p>\r\n
