Villarreal B were the better team against San Fernando CD at the Estadio Iberoamericano 2010
A great debut in Primera RFEF! Villarreal B made their superiority pay off and overcame San Fernando CD (1-3) with goals from Carlo Adriano, Nicolás Jackson, and Dela from the penalty spot.
The Yellows started the match strongly. In the fourth minute, Carlo Adriano put the Mini Submarine ahead with a powerful effort from the edge of the box that went into the top corner. Only five minutes later, in an electric counter-attack, Jackson scored the Yellows’ second after capitalising on a fantastic assist from team-mate Juan Carlos Arana.
With half an hour on the clock, it was all going the Yellows way thanks to their two-goal lead on the scoreboard. Iker Álvarez helped the Yellows to conserve that lead, making a great save after a questionable penalty was awarded to the home side.
Miguel Álvarez’s side looked comfortable, and could have even made it 0-3. However, in the 74th minute, San Fernando got one back to complicate the situation for the Mini Submarine. The headed goal by Francis was a prelude to a barrage on the Villarreal B goal by the home side, who were looking for the qualiser.
In added time, the referee gave a clear penalty on Diego Collado. From 12 yards, Dela stepped up to finish perfectly and seal the victory for the Mini Submarine, who start their life in Primera RFEF with a win.
